I use adsense keyword suggestion tool because it shows how popular the keyword is and if it is profitable. I find it very easy and beneficial to use.

Thank you for such an in-depth post about advertising.

Your comments on cpm advertising are true in some respects but as far as the earning potential goes there is a rather big difference when one knows the secrets to getting the most out of them. In almost every case I have worked on it was fairly easy to increase total earnings on cpm ads by as much as 300% and even in the best setup I was able to extract another 25% additional revenue. With 500,000 pages views a day this was a change from $50 to over $200 dollars a day for one site in particular.

Wordtracker is a very useful tool as mentioned by Darren.
Unfortunately the free trial version is not available at the moment and hasn't been for quite a few days.

From the Wordtracker website:
"We regret that the free trial is currently unavailable.

Our servers have just been subjected to a denial of service attack that abused the free trial. To safeguard our paying customers we are working to prevent this from happening again.

The free trial will return as soon as possible.

Please note that this issue does not affect our paid service."

If you read successful internet marketing and business people you will find almost all of them point to one big error that will make it difficult to succeed online... picking a niche based purely on your own interest then trying to find a market for what you're selling.

That being said, there is a balance between creating a business simply because you believe there's a lot of profit potential and creating a business because you love it.

If pencils are your thing then you'll need to find other ways to monetize your online presence rather than high paying keywords. If you're just starting maybe you could list everything you're interested in and then search several sources to see all the possible cashflow streams associated with those topics.

As Darren mentioned in another post, one consulting job picked up from this site can create more income than CPC revenue in the short term. I'n sure he's pleased when his CPC revenue balances out the months with no consulting income.

Look for ways to create multiple streams of income from your efforts and you're more likely to succeed over the long term.

With regards to Adsense High paying keywords, I've link another blog post on my blog site. It has 7000+ high paying keywords. Not sure if it's accurate but that's the largest list I can find on the internet.

Hope that's helpful.

Oops, forgot to mention: a tool called AdSenseAccelerator was just released this week. It's not cheap -- $47/month -- but it provides some good data drawn straight from Google via the AdWords API. See the three-part reivew I did.
