Hi Daren,
I find your website has a lot of very useful info for beginners like me. I've been trying to promote my affiliate programs & also have adsense in my website but I don't seem to be successful in any of these. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks,
  Sandra

Hi Darren, I'm an affiliate managememnt consultant and blogger that quotes your articles quite a lot. I LOVE this out of the box thinking. I don't allow paid advertising on my blog because I use it to promote all my 5 Star Affiliate Programs clients and don't want ads to compete for attention since they pay me a monthly retainer for advertising.

However, I do advertise with BlogAds. (I've also advertised here with AdBrite.) You gave me another idea for BlogAds on the flip-side. My BlogAds have several links - one promoting my affiliate forum, one the blog, one the affiliate directory. I could replace one of those with an affiliate link. For instance "want to start your own affiliate program? click here" and use my Shareasale link. I just never thought to do it before, but thanks to you for opening up my mind, may try that on a couple Blogads.

I just implemented it with 2 affiliate programs. Now, my Ad Strip looks good with 4 ads on it instead of just one. (2 for Affiliate programs, one paid, and one of a book I wrote.) Perhaps, I should also subscribe to the ProBlogger Newsletter while I'm at it.

As always Amazon seems to suck. I've tried this using an Amazon affiliate ad in the past and it hasn't worked too well. Amazon needs to do something with the landing page. The conversion is horrible.

You may also wish to check out the Advolution Affiliate Program - to either use with this BlogAds technique or to make any word or phrase on your site into an affiliate program (by creating an affiliate link to an Advolution search results page). Much more info at http://www.advolution.com

I've been doing it on my blog for some time now and it's a great idea. Often times someone will visit your blog, think about advertising and without one already there, they won't easily find the blogad link that they need to click on if they want to buy a blogad. With an ad there, they can follow it ot the bottom and order one up!
