[...] For some time now, Bloglines has been experiencing errors while attempting to retrieve posts from FeedBurner feeds. Marc commented about this on my post about Feedburner and b5’s Problogger wrote, more than a month ago, that FeedBurner knows about the problem and is working to resolve the issue. Meanwhile the problem is still not solved… Today I read a post on wirecatcher.com who writes about the fact that Bloglines and FeedBurner aren’t exactly willing to work with each other on the issue. Het got some emails from support teams which said “That’s FeedBurner’s problem” or “That’s Bloglines’ problem.” Not very professional you would think but I was surprised to see that Bloglines AND Feedburner commented on that post. Both Dick Costolo (”Nobody at FeedBurner should ever blame anybody else for an issue you’re having.”) and Paul Querna (”I am an Engineer from Bloglines, and I would like to help resolve this problem.”) tried to help, very good! You should think that it won’t take long now to solve this issue, let’s hope so… This entry was posted on Tuesday, March 7th, 2006 and is filed under In the media.
I also had problems with Bloglines. More than 10 Percent of the feeds I subscribed to showed up with a FeedError(49) within Bloglines. Those RSS files could be opened without problems in the browser. My own feed (managed by Feedburner) was out of time for 4 days. Feedburner (http://forums.feedburner.com/viewtopic.php?t=3046) told: We have no problem.

I reported to Bloglines but got no answer so far ("allow 2 workdays..."). But now suddenly almost all subscribed feeds show up fine with all posts of the last days (so your feed does) ...

BTW: Do they work on a new beta at bloglines? I got requests with referer at beta.bloglines.com (authorization required)?

[...] Feedburner problems Please note that at the time of writing those using The Cartoon Blog FeedBurner feed along with Bloglines are experiencing some problems in that the combination isn’t working. This has been going on for a few days on this and other blogs. I’m hanging on a day or two before ditching Feedburner altogether, but hopefully it will improve soon. [...]

Bloglines has experienced errors while attempting to retrieve recent posts from FeedBurner feeds. These errors take 24 hours to automatically clear. FeedBurner knows about the problem and is working to resolve the issue. Thank you for your patience.

Bloglines isn't rendering properly for my site either. However, I checked the Feedburner XML to see if anything was going wrong on their end - the feed validators all came through saying everything was okay. They did throw some warnings up about some readers not liking embedded objects inside RSS content.

Recently we posted a YouTube video, and the embedded object gets added into the feed because it's part of the post. Ever since then, Bloglines has been throwing an error with retrieving the feed. So if I had to guess, Bloglines is _really_ picky about what it receives, and this is probably not on purpose since most other readers, either display the content or simply ignore content they can't display.

I sent them an email about it today, so no word yet... but I'll let you know.

Hi Darren, Did you check the issue with FeedBurner.com feeds cause sometimes the feeds cannot handle special characters and also it'll show you error when your feed is updated or changed. It happened last time when my posts has special characters(copoyright sign, trademark sign etc), the feedburner feed was unable to render it.

Yes, or either it's Feedburner. I was about to email you again about it. Given every single other feed works ok in Bloglines today I'd be pointing the finger straight at feedburner personally, if they cant fix it, drop them, or alternatively give me your non feedburner feed address so I don't have to type Problogger into Firefox :-)
