  5. […] So, I’ll be starting a series of posts – you could call it a guide, perhaps – on a detailed learning plan for absolute beginners to WordPress. We’ve seen a more advanced Blogging for Beginners series from Darren Rowse at ProBlogger. His guide is one that fits most internet users out there, but it’s far more comprehensive than what I intend to do with this Absolute Beginners series. You’ll should probably be able to summarise my entire series as “How To Blog With WordPress”. […]

  8. Have you ever considered starting a “Blog U”?

Sort of like a blogging college. People could apply on a subscription base and complete a series of “classes” with you. Then you could graduate them and give them your seal of approval as certified probloggers.

I just visited your site for the first time today and already feel much more informed, I can only imagine how I would feel after completing “problogger University”?!?!?

Again, thank you for the useful content.

  9. Thanks Bruce.

Actually that’s one of the ideas behind Six Figure Blogging.

  15. Just wanna say thanks as now I feel I’m getting somewhere.
Before reading your blog late last year my site had a page rank of 1/10, now it is 4/10 (highest page has a PR of 5).
I believe i got this improvement by following some of your ideas.
Some of the ideas I had previously thought of, but its not until you read it on a successful site that you get the motivation to do it :D

I now have a lot of top 10 results on Google and my traffic is improving weekly.
Perhaps I will finally get that elusive AdSense cheque :D

    thanks :D

  17. […] Does it Fit with Your Blog’s Goals and Objectives – For me a lot of the advice that I’ve given in this series of blogging for beginners comes down to working out some goals, strategy and vision for your blog (I’ve written extensively on strategic blogging here so won’t unpack this now). There are many reasons why people blog and the motivation of money is just one of them. Here’s some of the responses I had when I asked why people blog: […]

Hi Darren, How’s it going. We are students of English in Hong Kong. Our teacher is John and he comes from England. There are 6 classmates in this group activity. We are talking about your web-site because it is very useful. We enjoy the group activity and email writing. This topic is very interesting and we can learn more English in this way.

Can you tell us about your job? Do you work in computers? Is it safe to use blogging? Can you tell us what we should careful of. Thank you for your attention. We hope you can reply asap

  22. Blogging, Blog Search & the Blogosphere — Social Search V/s Media Business Models

Several Bloggers have published posts to help explain the benefits to individuals and approaches toward Blogs and Blogging. A  popular one is Darren Rowse’s Pro Blogger. This post attempts to analyze the approaches to Blogosphere of two majo…

  23. Your information and attitude are wonderful, thank you. I’ve been looking into blogging as a back-up for my futile career soon ending and as an outlet for my original desire to write for a living when I left college. That was 30 years ago, but I’m getting there.

I’m writing to suggest that perhaps there’s at least one reason fellow bloggers/others might be upset at your focus on making money…some of the people payng you could be scam artists. I say that because I’m almost certain a link – from your making money section, in fact – was a guy I briefly worked with until it was apparent he was renewing keyword contracts of (mostly retail store) clients without asking the client’s permission (using a cleverly-worded autorenew agreement). He also was selling/offering a pop-up blocker software for consumer download which not only was spyware but also delivered its own full-screen pop-up that overrode IE search results. Just a few of the ploys he used from his Florida boiler room operation (drug dealing being another side business). My beef with you on this is, while I can’t expect you to thoroughly research the practices of everyone to whom you lend credibility by providing their contextual links, I’d expect you to review their privacy policies (his is a cleverly worded license to legally spam on behalf of others), or at least expect them to have an address or corpoate information for contact and background somewhere on their site besides an 877 number no one answers (on purpose in the case of my guy) and an email address where complaints of spam will be reviewed (he never did, of course). Is what he does legal? Probably. Is it completely unethical? Of course. If your attitude is “not my problem” that’s a problem, no matter how busy you are. It DOES matter if you make money off guys who scam your readers without conducting some due diligence. It’s the kind of thing that can hurt your blog brand and ultimately harm the entire industry. Am I expecting too much of you by expecting the same nominal policing of advertisers from you that’s done by mainstream media? I think not.

  25. Thanks man..I recently started blogging..You info is great! Keep up the good work!

  26. […] My advice to new bloggers is simply to start one and see whether blogging fits with you, your personality and your lifestyle. It’s not for everyone but the only way to find out is to do it and let it evolve from there. Be yourself, interact with the readers who come visiting, interact with other blogs and bloggers and write about what you love. It’s not rocket science. I’ve written an extensive series on blogging for beginners here – https://problogger.com/blogging-for-beginners-2/ […]

  27. You mention writing about what I love. What if there is nothing you really love? I have no real passion for anything so I write about that. I simply write about how I feel and think, and how I see this difficult world that I was thrown into so long ago.

  28. […] Where did I get my research? Well the Blogging for beginners series at problogger.net was a good start. Getting out there and reading other blogs helped too, I like Better Business Blogging in particular. […]

  35. […] So I am trying to help people get started with blogging. More specifically blogging for money. This is not exactly a step by step process. That is why you should refer to a Problogger for more detailed information. Things I want you to remember is that you are trying to make money using blogging as a tool. You have chosen your niche . You purchased a domain name with your niche keywords within it. Where did you buy it from? Do they offer WordPress hosting? Moveable Type ? See that is even a tough question to put in the right order. […]
