[...] One thing that I’ve always enjoyed about blogging has been the technical side of things. I enjoy the code and making it do things that it wasn’t intended to do with clever use of plugins or add-ons. WordPress has a gallon of plugins (150 points for someone who can help me translate ‘a gallon of plugins’ into metric units!). A reboot provides an opportunity to examine what features you are using and how you might employ new and different features on your blog. There’s heaps (or gallons) of plugins available for WordPress and Movable Type. Give some of them a try and see how you can spice up your blog life a little. [...]

Check out the WordPress Planet Blog at http://planet.wordpress.org they have tons of info along this line. Nice RSS feed too.
Darren,
For reasons I can’t fathom, the ‘found via’ post linked above doesn’t include the relevant link to the plugins article. But this one does: http://weblogtoolscollection.com/archives/2006/02/11/
If you hack the day off of the URL, you see even more external links. Does anyone understand why this might be?
I just put an amazon plugin on my site and it is now so much easier to add amazon products and books to my blog.

cool … just downloaded the Admin Drop Down Menu plugin from the “must haves” – so much less clicking to do, now :-)
I don’t think the plugins stated on the site are must-haves. I see that most of them are optional — or at least optional for me — because I don’t own any of them.
I wonder if the meta tag works well for my newly nexus theme. I have tried the fishmeta but realized that it didn’t work well for the index.php and only works in the single page.
Oh man… Thanks for posting this, Darren… and everyone who’s put links in the comments. My day is now wrecked :)
I can’t believe that I’ve lived this long without some these plug-ins. Especially “Admin Drop Down Menu.”
I have a good list here
