Blogging for Beginners – Coming Soon

Earlier in the week I asked for questions for my upcoming series of posts on Blogging for Beginners.

The response was great. For starters the questions asked confirmed that I’d already written articles on the write topics. They also gave me a few good ideas for others.

I’ve taken some of the questions that I’m not feeling as qualified to answer and have approached 5 other great bloggers to answer them. So far Andy Wibbels has agreed to write one and I’m confident that he’ll be joined by at least a couple of others as guest contributers.

If you have further questions you want to add to the list please do so over the weekend in the comments of this post.

I hope to launch the series on Monday.

Update: Also featured as guests in this series will be Peter Flaschner, Yaro Starak, Duncan Riley and Aaron Brazell. It’s shaping up to be a great series.

I believe there was a start to this question on the last article you posted but I would really like to know if there is a standard for keeping stats and what is the most trusted service by advertisers looking at blogs.

I would imagine when people build enough traffic and want to go solicit advertisers or advertisers want to solicit them they want to see reliable stats.

Which brings me to thinking that someone should promote a web standard stat service. Looks like site meter is a good choice but…. well that’s another topic.

Just thought stats and reliability would be a good add to the list.

  2. Alan says:

Looking forward to the series Darren, since I am somewhat new to the blogging world.

  3. mark says:

I’m with Alan. New to the Blogging scene and will appreciate this a lot!

  4. David Ward says:

Can’t wait for you to start the new series, Darren. I have already learned so much from you in such a short amount of time!

  5. Pat Ashley says:

I’d like an explanation about some things regarding stats on my site – what do certain terms mean to me, such as pages, visits, hits, visitors? I’m sure other newbies like me would like help in this area! Thanks Darren.

    Blogging for beggginers??

Is so hard to signup on blogspot and start blogging? the good content its what makes a blog valuable, not the (stupid, cof) “blogging skills”.

The time has come, in wich you could become famous by teaching how to improve your “skills” using a… err… microwave(or something) .

the minds are getting smaller, sad…

  7. Rob says:

Looking forward to it Darren …Newbies like me need all the help we can get …

    Many thanks anticipation

  8. Dave says:

Echoing the thoughts of the majority – looking forward to this series, basically because theres always room for old dogs and new to learn something.

  9. coturnix says:

There is a lot of advice out there on how to start a blog, how to write a blog, how to attract readers and raise traffic, even how to make some money blogging, but I have not found yet a good piece of advice on how to quit blogging. Blogs come and go. The best ones sometimes quit. So I wrote one myself: Proper Procedure For Shutting Down A Blog.

  10. The banker says:

I would like to see a post on how to analyze stats. What kind of conclusions can one draw for them?
The first question I asked when I was new to blogging (and I hapened to ask you about it and got a quick reply) was where one could blog for free and still run ones owns ads. Maybe there are some other newbies that would like to know that too.
