		<description>Snarkiness I can live with. It&#039;s usually someone just trying to get attention and more times than not there&#039;s no real harm done.

Hate OTOH is unsettling and as you know, it can be downright dangerous. I&#039;ve experienced it directed towards me in the past and there has been a lot of personal (public) damage done.

A lot of it has to do with the web being a somewhat anonymous medium where people sitting in front of a computer screen feel powerful in knowing that no matter who they are, their words have an impact, whether positive or negative.

It&#039;s the cases where that hate migrates offline where physical harm can be done that are the scariest.</description>
