I'm sure I must have mentioned this before, but the number of new blogs created is a very poor way to judge the size of the blogosphere. Number of blog posts per day gives a much better idea I think.

Technorati tracks 27.2 million blogs, yet there are only 1.2 million posts per day? If everyone was posting at the same rate there would only be 1 new post every 22 days on each blog.

Since that clearly isn't the case I suggest that a large number of those 27.2 million blogs are in fact inactive.

Is anyone else feeling saturated with the volume of blogs out there? I feel it's certainly getting harder for the few good ideas to be seen. And I'm not just talking about commercialism of blogs. It's the pure volume that creates the noise. And the signal to noise ratio seems to be getting smaller.
