Google Update (sort of)

Search Engine Optimization 6 comments

Lots of webmasters are reporting changes with Google referral levels this week. Many believe it’s not a new update but a rolling out of changes already made in one or two datacenters. If you’re into tracking Google changes you can try make sense of it at the WMW discussion at Google Datacenters Watch. All seems normal on my blogs – although I know of a few ProBlogger readers who’ve had some big shifts in the last day or two.

  • Yep – I’ve seen a move in my referrals and my wife’s blog, thelazywife.com. Didn’t think much of it though…haven’t seen any significant updates.

  • My Google referrals are strikingly up, over the past few days. This week, alone, I’ve seen more referrals from Google than I saw in the first couple of weeks of the year.

  • yup, I’ve been getting quite anumber of people from Google. Perhaps it’s also odd that my site shows up in like the top 4-6 positions (2-3 indirect, 2-3 direct) for some particular keywords? I can surely use this :)

  • Ayup. The previous update had pushed me down to a PR5 after being a 6 for many years, but this one has (at least for now) put me back up at 6 again.

Obviously I must be floating right at that 5-6 cut-off point.. a little change one way or the other pushes me up or down..

  • Google traffic’s been down for me for about a week.

Oddly enough Yahoo and MSN traffic has increased.

    So now I’m about even.

  • I am seeing a drop on one of my site and an increase on the other.
