Publicize Yourself By Giving A Prize - Prizes Needed for ProBlogger Competition
Do you have a product, service or site/blog that you’d like to get into the line of site of bloggers? Do you have something that you could give away as a prize in a competition?
If so I’d like to hear from you.
Next week I’ll be launching a little competition here at ProBlogger - something that I hope bloggers will find fun but also rewarding. I’d like to be able to offer prizes to the winners and runners up and am looking for people with something that they can donate.
What will you get out of it?
In return for your donation your product, service or site will be linked to in a competition ‘prize post’ and I’ll make sure it’s linked to in other posts that I do about the competition.
As a result your prize will be seen by thousands of readers of this site (ProBlogger currently averages between 4000 - 6000 unique visitors per day - and this competition could see that increase as I think it could be a little viral).
What am I looking for?
I’m looking for multiple prizes at a range of values. I already have three that I’m putting into the mix but would like to offer the top three place getters a number of prizes each to make it worth their while. There will also be a ‘Top 10′ in the competition if you have a prize that you’d like to give to a larger group of people.
Prizes could include anything such as:
- gift vouchers
- consulting services,
- books
- blog design work
- gadgets
- free hosting for a blog
- err….cash
The only real constraint I’ll put on it is that I’d like it to be useful to bloggers in their blogging (a fairly wide thing).
In terms of getting prizes to winners this will be something to be arranged between winner and prize giver (so if it’s a physical prize like a book if it can be sent from the prize giver that would help cut down the admin of it for me).
I’m not going to tell what the competition is yet but if you require more details I’m happy to fill you in.
I’m looking forward to this competition and hope you’ll join me in making it something that people want to participate if you can.
Please Email Me if you have something to offer.

I guess a mollyzine (http://www.flickr.com/photos/themalones/80003372/) hat isn’t a good prize then?

hehe - I should throw in the used keyboard! hehe was wondering what to do with it - but no I think I’ll keep it at hand for those frustrating days when I feel like trashing something :-)
btw - already have had five amazing prizes donated - the winners of this competition could be going home with quite the collection of prizes! Still looking for more though!

I look forward to the competition. BTW did you pick a winner for your last competition to help you choose a domain name? I can’t seem to find an announcement anywhere.

Everything you ever wanted to know about me — okay, maybe not
I found this fun little meme on Phoenixrealm and I thought I’d borrow it to murder some minutes and slaughter some seconds. Four jobs you’ve had in your life: A bun-toasting girl at McDonalds: I didn’t last long enough to graduate beyond the buns; …

What the heck? Sorry, Darren, I don’t know what happened there with that last comment. I did a trackback on your site and it ended up posting it as a comment on your most recent post?? Not sure what’s up with that. I wouldn’t have even noticed that if I wasn’t checking out my stats.
The competition sounds cool though, great idea.

MBoy - last week’s competition is close to being finalised. I’m just waiting on my other judge who has been sick to help me make a decision between two finalists and then I’ll secure the domain before making the announcement.

For ‘physical’ prizes (books, gear, etc.) how would you work the delivery etc? I presume the person offering it pays all shipping costs, etc. (which is fine) - but would they just ship it directly to the winner?

Yes Andy - I’ll leave shipping to the prize giver for physical prizes (there are a few already that are in this category).

I’ve been pondering for 10 minutes after reading this post, to come to the conclusion that this is by far most creative & clever idea I’ve read about on this blog. You’re a pro, Darren :)

I’ll be happy to buy the winner a pizza, to be delivered by a local pizzeria of their choice.
:)
If they come to Asheville, NC I’ll be happy to buy them a pint at my favorite pub.

Hi Darren,
I want to put together something for a prize…when is the cutoff for this?
I’m trying to decide what to donate.

Question… if we donate something, does that exclude us from the competition?
I hope not :)

[…] After a very hot day here (41 degrees Celsius - 106 degrees fahrenheit) where it was just too hot to sit in front of a computer and blog (plus I was marrying another couple in an outdoor wedding in the heat of the day - crazy stuff) I have logged onto my email tonight to find that the response for my call for Prizes for a ProBlogger competition has been overwhelming. We are book publishers in India and publish quality books, but many of them have territorial restrictions. I will be happy to offer good books, if you can allow me to place the restriction that it can only be awarded to entrants from India. I am sure that India will be among the top 5 countries from where you will get contestants. Thanks.
