WordPress 2.0 Nears Official Launch
WordPress 2.0 is almost ready to go live after it’s successful beta testing. The official release is set for December 26 (put back a couple of days to ensure there’s enough support due to the holidays).
I’ve had a play with the beta and it’s looking good. Look out for a post here at ProBlogger.net on the 26th which explains some of the things you ‘need to know’ about WP 2.0 from Aaron.
I’d love to hear the thoughts on WP 2.0 from others involved in the beta test in comments below.

I’ve already converted my blog over to Wordpress – I wanted to make sure WPAndreas03 worked as expected on it. The upgrade was a breeze, no issues at all. I haven’t seen any issues with my plugins or themes yet either.
The new features are welcome as they speed the overall administration process up a bit, with smart use of AJAX. Other than that there’s not a whole lot that changes for the end user – most of it is backend. I have seen a slight decrease in load times and overall server load, a blessing in itself.

I know it’s supposed to be a good thing to get a new version. But I just installed everything on WP1.5 and I don’t think Fantastico on my Cpanel will allow upgrading to WP2, unless you can install the new over the old without deleting the theme/plugins/content?

My test installations are working well, and my first 2.0 plugin was received well yesterday. (Snowfall)
A lot of my marketing experience is from the games industry and you can learn a lot from how that market looks on sequals.
Wordpress 1.5.x was a success and widely thought to have an edge on the competition.
The adoption of Wordpress 2.0 is going to be massive.

Nothing to go ape over, but pretty nice. A couple of features were pretty cool, though I’m not too fond of the writing interface

I’m supposed to be vacationing so I respond to Supa with fear and trembling and after much inner turmoil…
Supa, WP will never put any core files in wp-content. Therefore it is always safe to upload everything EXCEPT wp-content. That is the directory with your themes and plugins loaded in. Your content is kept in a database, not in files… so you won’t overwrite that.

The AJAX interface is nice for beginners. But for power users, the old interface is the best bet.

Cheap laptop computers

Hi there, I find it quite refreshing to occasionally find a good blog such as yours with a different topic completely. It somehow ads to ones little list of lifes experiences. I seem to have a soft spot for blogs related to Cheap laptop computers and /or sites that have a central theme around submit articles type items. I guess this comes from being a webmaster as well. Thank you and I hope you don’t mind if I visit again next month.
