I didn't see them on my candy site (which seems like it would have been a prime candidate)

Interesting idea, but where were they used? I didn't see them anywhere over the last couple of days either on my own sites or those that I frequent

I think adding themes is a great way of differentiating units. I worry that people are becoming accustomed to seeing the same type of Google ads on almost every site out there.

I don't want these themes appearing on my sites.

I really hope they did not appear on my sites.

Or is this just another gimmick to get users to click and everybody will soon learn to ignore?

The best thing about the Adsense is the contextual advertising... anything flashy that's added only takes away from that imo.

hhhmmm.....for some, it's good news as reader will be attracted to click it. but for some, it's a nightmare.. reader will leave the site earlier as they are attracted right a way with the ad.

I think they have to test this new text ads on many different niche sites to see if the CTR will increase. But it's however a good news from Adsense....
