@faith – I too had one of those emails from Google Adsense… How in the world are we supposed to know which part of the subjective criteria we are offending?? I really despise Google’s approach to interacting with the public – it’s like, HERE – YOU FIGURE IT OUT. You spend 3 hours trying to figure out what we mean so we don’t have to tell you explicitly.

What junk.

As it turns out the language on one of my blogs was the reason. And it was not even rated R – it was PG for sure…

Oh well, right? Anyone coming along better than Google in 2009?

I’m doubting it! So, I got that blog up to specs quickly!

As I said in another comment – my blog is not going gangbusters from Chitika. For general personal development blogs like mine it doesn’t seem to work. I don’t focus on tech or gadgets at all and that seems to be where Chitika excels.

For now – I’m using Adsense again. I’m NOT happy with it – but for a personal development blog with a range of pd topics – what might work better?

I’m considering building up a my e-book library and promoting those exclusively. It will help clean up my sites a lot as Adsense is so ridiculously uncool anymore!

I just signed with Chitika haven’t been accepted yet and not sure if I will be because of the monthly 10,000 visitors (don’t think I get that many) but went on a rampage after adsense suspended me for I don’t know what (they sent a list of a wide variety of things and I can’t see one that I’m guilty of). Anyway, I found this blog looking for information on the program and it’s been an insightful visit…

Dont even go there.

The best thing is to use Adsense AND eMiniMalls (in Adsense compatible mode). When it comes to vanilla text ads, nothing compares to Adsense (not even YPN).

Anybody know how their OTHER formats are performing? ie, the contextual ads that look like AdSense?

I might thry them on my blog for a few days instead of AdSense just to see the difference…

Doh, I remember seeing somewhere, where they got the name – it meant something in the language of some Indian tribe or another, I think. Can’t remember what though.

Awesome! Thanks for the info, Darren. I’ve signed up too, I’m excited to see if I generate any revenue. I thought it was called ‘Chikita’ for about half an hour (like the banana?), but then my brain figured out that it’s CHI-TEE-KAH. Got it. ;)

I’d like to see something other than a white background, that would be nice. Maybe I’ll submit that suggestion to them.

I’d be interested to know how they came up with the name too, if anybody knows!

Well, that’s it. Your review got me to think that I should try the mini-malls, but getting them to not clash with AdSense is an even better thing (and I probably wouldn’t have figured by myself how to do that). I guess I really need to give them a try now.

And actually I’m impressed you got this article up so quick ;-)

I was just tinkering with Chitika after seeing it in your first post, and indeed I quickly came to these same questions (Adsense and Chitika, controlling context, etc).

I notice Blogger doesn’t allow script tags in a post, but maybe other blog engines do, in which case you could embed a script tag in each post to control what Chitika would advertise on a per-post basis.

It’s good that the Adsense thing is answered – I was about to ask them about it.

PS It’s a tricky name; I keep misthinking it as Chikita, which makes me think Chokito. *sigh* oh well.
