There are a lot of CPM ad companies – here are the ones I use in rough descending order of revenue:

Casale – FastClick – Tribal Fusion – Burst Media

Those are the “big four” but there are smaller ones.

In general, if you have low traffic (5000 visitors a day or less) these won’t do you any good. With a low-traffic site in the right niche you can make good money from AdSense or affiliate programs, but CPM networks are best for high-traffic sites.

(I make far more from these networks than I make from Adsense, since I have a high-traffic site.)

Fastclick is a good advertiser if you’re in the market for CPM advertising. Their ads are consistent, and they give you 65% of the revenue.

However, I prefer Casalemedia.com (aff.link) from a monetary aspect, even if the ads are considerably more tacky. Their payout is good — they give you 70% of the revenue. I receive $7 ecpm for pop-unders (I know, hate ‘em, but have to make money somewhere), their checks are always on time and they even pay in advance in December to help out with Christmas.

One of the downfalls of Casale is that they only have 4 ad units: 728×90, 120×600, 300×250 and pop-under.

They do have programs that will target ads towards your content, but you have to be bringing in enough viewership (I believe it’s 10,000 daily impressions) to warrant the service upgrade. I’ve used GoogleAds, BurstMedia, Fastclick, Valueclick, Advertising.com, CJ and Clickbank, and Casale has always been my biggest money maker and most reliable as well.

Its a good write up by Duncan, good enough to persuade me to sign up. I’ll perhaps try a month of using fastclick (if I get accepted – 6,500 page impressions a day might not be enough on my main site).

Seems that there are more and more advertising streams becoming available, which has to be a good thing for publishers, as its giving the consumer variety, but I’m wondering if there will be a backlash sooner or later due to the sheer number of ads that are now on the web.
