Jon, you can search the MT activity log now, too, even limiting it to a date range, so it's super easy to get access to the information you're looking for. You can even export that activity log as CSV to process it in Excel, so there's a lot of power there.

We're using the comments functionality to manage the community on our own sites, and have been since early betas, with no spam problems at all. So I think it's a good bet you'll be safe to try using the new comment/TrackBack management on your site.

Swade, we definitely will work on sharing some of the features from the TypePad team with the MT community -- we miss them too! Most of our hosting partners will be offering instructions on how to get automatically upgraded in the next few days, so keep your eyes open.

I'm hoping my MT-partnered host will upgrade it to 3.2 soon. What I'd really love is for MT to have some of the Typepad features that I miss, like wrapping text around photos etc. It's a real bonus for presentation and it can be done, I just haven't figured out a quick way to do it yet.

I updated MobileTracker's install today and I am enjoying some of the new features. The activity monitor is no longer one long list (broken into pages) which is great because I get a lot of searches and it always had to load a few thousand entries since I only checked it every few days.

The only snag I ran into had to do with my FTP client I believe, it copied over all my plug-ins (I guess replaced the folder with plugins in it with the new folder without...) so I had to go download them all over. No biggy, and now I'm upgraded to Textile 2 so it's all good. It's pretty much a one click update once you have the files updated, which is nice. Of course I would advise anyone looking to do the update to back up the database first, because you just never know.

I also think I'm going to give the new comment management system a try and activate comments. If I start getting spam they will go back off (or perhaps I'll write a little script to turn off comments on older entries as those are what seem to get spammed).
