I’ve learned a lot from you and your blog. And I still learn today, that’s why I keep coming back. I completely agree with you about the linking to outside blog, and not hosting them in your blog. We’re experiencing something very similar with our humor blog, http://www.WastedBlog.com where we link to funny stuff found online, in blogs and in websites. We publish funny videos, funny pictures, funny and weird news found somewhere else, and the good thing is that people keep coming back to us because they find it organized, well presented, updated daily. That’s a service you provide for bloggers like myself, we know you ‘open the gates’ helping me grow my blogging experience, for which I’m really helpful. I’ve been following closely your advice about how to improve blog’s ranking in search engines. We’re implementing many of the changes in WastedBlog, and it’s working!

Well done, I link to your site and glad you are getting positive traffic for the work you do on this blog, I find it very inspirational. From the info I have found on here my revenue has increased 20%, although this is on non blog sites. I started blogging like a maniac (rather than a pro) 5 weeks ago and can now fund my Dr Pepper/Mars Bar addiction comfortably from the adsense revenue.
I now have 16 blogs and am trying to whittle it down to 6, I figure if I use the scatter gun approach I will hit something.

Most important thing I have learned:

If everyone else is blogging the topic, you may just as well bang your head against the wall.

An experience I had today got me thinking about dealing with hurtful comments about your work, so I wrotte up what happened and what I did about it on my blog. I think you’ve just proved that a little bit of altruism goes a long way sometimes, especially in something like blogging, where a lot of people consider any little competitive advantage to be a secret edge.

Even if you don’t consider yourself a top expert in the field, a lot of bloggers are going to look to you as the stage magician who’s revealing how all the magic tricks are done.

Now I can’t decide whether your word picture of blogging in formation reminds me of a flock of geese flying overhead or the squawking of a mob of parrakeets as they come screaming through the palms behind the house each morning …

And now I’ll take my tongue out of my cheek and suggest that what you have found in the paradox between sending people away and getting more people back has some similarities to what Steve Pavlina says about getting involved in his blog last week.
