CarbWire For Sale

Anyone in the market to buy a successful blog might be interested in the sale of CarbWire – a blog (with a PR of 6) about everything Low Carb. Site Forums has the details of the sale for interested buyers:

Revenue details:

Google AdSense brings in several hundred dollars a month, $350 in June. This is primarily without updating, I can’t stress enough how more attention would make this site more popular/profitable. The click through rate is high, but thanks to TOS I can’t reveal that publicly. Because the ads are for food the CPC is relatively low.

Avg. monthly pageviews: 65,000

Traffic details:

See SiteMeter Traffic has been a steady 60-70K page views a month (about 30K unique), but is higher when there is fresh content. We have not been able to update the site often as other projects have taken up our time. If someone started posted regularly, every couple of days even, the traffic could easily balloon….

Oops… unfortunate timing, on the day the Atkins bankruptcy is announced, amongst others on CarbWire itself …

  2. Kevin Burton says:

Yeah. Seriously though the timing isn’t that bad.

There are STILL a lot of people that need to loose weight on Atkins.

The Chapter 11 isn’t a problem with the Atkins diet but a problem with the Atkins money.

Atkins is a genius. I’d LOVE to have someone buy carbwire and blog on it often.

  3. Jon Gales says:

I updated the thread later to show that FeedBurner is showing almost 30,000 RSS subscribers. Mostly from My Yahoo thanks to a few early breaks with their aggregator. That’s a lot!

  4. Mike says:

The asking price seems quite high. I reckon anyone trying to sell a site will ask for a lot more than it is actually worth. It’s better to find a hobby type site that doesn’t have much advertising.

You can pick up some bargains. Some small players have no idea what their site is worth. Especially if they don’t run Adsense.

  5. Vo says:

The ongoing value of this site will diminish, however having lots of content that could be indexed by the various search engines will garner traffic for sure. Unfortunately (as a long time low-carber and RSS reader of Carbwire for almost a year), most of Carbwire is about product announcments when all the food manufacturers got onto the bandwagon, and MANY of them have dropped off. Someone adopting the low-carb lifestyle and landing there will be full of disappointement when every product they find has been discontinued.
