Blogging and podcasting in Australia

Blog News 7 comments

Just yesterday I was looking at domain names for a blog about Australian Blogging – I was toying with the idea of inviting a few prominent Australian bloggers together in a group blog to help raise the profile of blogging in Australia (as well as our own).

Today Trevor Cook emails me to tell me about his new blog – Blogging and podcasting in Australia. Looks like being a great blog – Trevor is a wonderful (and prolific) blogger who I’m coming to respect a lot. It’ll be on my daily reading list.

  • yes, there is certainly a lack of quality sites about australian bloggers indeed. A directory like this is essential.

  • Anthony J Hicks is still keeping a directory I believe, but it’s not meeting the role of promoting Australian blogs, the quicker something is done the faster blogging will actually become stronger here in Australia

  • Interesting idea – I’ll be very interested in watching how you go with this, might be I’ll set up something similar for us NZ bloggers.

  • Why not something along the lines of Mick and Cam’s thePodcastNetwork(.com) ?

  • There are some small initiatives on this, but I still think Australia’s behind on blogging/podcasting/video blogging. And, unfortunately for me, all types of initiatives are going on either in Melbourne, Sydney or Perth. Ack! I moved to Adelaide just over 2 years ago, and I know what you folks think of us who’re living here… ;-)

  • Thanks Darren, I appreciate your comments and I hope my new blog can help us show that there really is more happening in Australia than a lot of people imagine. Blogtalk Downunder confirmed that for me, we have some fantastic bloggers in this country.

  • Count me in if you’re serious about a group effort to raise the profile of blogging in Australia.

I’ve been thinking along the same lines as yourself – an australian blog directory or a community/alliance of Australian bloggers.

Darren, if it’s okay with you I’ll email you this week with some more definite ideas I have.
