Just wanted to say I enjoy following your blog. I make a living from my content sites, but for the last few months, I’ve been addicted to blogs, too. I’ve got three over at Typepad now that make about $20/day combined. Here’s my question for ya (or the folks you interview):

Are there any web designers out there who specialize in custom design for blogs? Or have you worked with a designer that did great work on your blog and whom you’d recommend? I’m artistically challenged, but really want to do something other than the Typepad defaults.

Great question and I’ll definitely ask my interviewees about design.

However in the mean time I’d strongly recommend you check out Rachel’s work at Cr8d design (http://www.cre8d-design.com/). She designs most of my blogs (although not this one – its my mangled attempt – but I’m getting her on the case to redesign it soon).

She’s excellent and is an experienced blogger herself. She does charge but is worth it. Check out her portfolio and section on blogs which has some great information in it itself.

And she doesn’t even pay me for this kind of endorsement – I just think her work is some of the best going around. Very clean, very ‘now’ and very worth while.

It would be interesting to hear thoughts on the value of setting up ‘quick-hit’ blogs to cover individual sporting events, entertainment stories or maybe even high-profile court cases.
It is clear that people are turning to the web for quick access to information, especially when news is still breaking on a story.

I would want to know how their earnings grew – exponentially? incrementally? and how they track this. I use CVS Adstats for adsense, just wonderering how seriously people track stats and what they have told them.

I’m a newbie to bloggin and at the moment I only have tiny little personal blog, but I have some ideas etc for what I could turn into business blogs, so I’d be interested to know what topics that the pro’s think need covering or might come up in the near future!

I want to know what kind of research they did before they jumpstart a new blog. How do they gauge the “marketability” or earning potential of a new topic? Thanks!

Ask them do they choose topics they personally enjoy or just what will make the most moey

Ask if they fear that with the low threshhold of setting up a pro blog or even a blog network (I’ve created one accidently!) that competition will eventually become too much
