Question for you, and I don't know if you'll see this, since I'm responding to a quite dated post.

You indicate that for a blog to attract readers and rank well it should have a decent quantity of posts. I agree! At the same time, you also suggest that at times, it's appropriate to start a new blog when there is a niche you want to address and you have the bandwidth to take it on.

How do you feel about pre-writing content for it while conceptualizing and technically developing your new blog, so that it 'springs to life' pre-populated with, say, content of 60 posts or so? They could be either backdated or single dated. On the plus side, it doesn't look quite so brand spanking *new* when it launches. On the minus side, I'm not sure if there are any SEO advantages, and the content won't be particularly fresh or timely at launch date.

Any thoughts?

I've got an idea for another blog that I'd like to start, in a fairly poor niche, as far as volume of people looking for it. Any ideas how I can optimize my blog (I intend to use wordpress), so it will at least rank #1 in that particular niche?
