I have a site which has used a forum /open style / for some years. 
To cut to the chase, I need to know if a weblog /RSS/XML/type of forum, always requires a user to login? I see this as a potential barrier to free expression and from my own experience, it tends to turn people away.
Can you explain if &#039;membership&#039; is a core requirement by the owners of the technology?
Thanks, I&#039;ve bookmarked your sites and will examine them when I don&#039;t have to battle my way across Melbourne to the airport to pick-up overseas guests . . .
