Advice for Bloggers: Karate Kid Style

Posted By Darren Rowse 5th of January 2010 Miscellaneous Blog Tips 0 Comments

After a week off I found it a little hard to get myself going again this morning. So I procrastinated on Twitter by posting some adapted Karate Kid quotes with some pics. It never was intended to be anything more than just the first one…. but my followers kind of egged me on (shifting the blame).

Here are the pics I pumped out over about 10 minutes – I thought putting them together into a post might serve as a permanent and public reminder of the dangers of wasting time on Twitter (a great lesson for bloggers going into the new year.

PS: don’t read too much into them or base your blogging upon the following :-)

  1. Hahaha, this was awesome, Darren. I like the spice of crazyness. These photo-blog-posts with text are pretty cool.

Karate kid philosophy applied to blogging. I think this is all I need. No more blogging ebooks for me.

  2. Haha. This made me laugh. Even though its meant to be a funnier post than usual, the points and principles remain the same.

    Thanks Darren

  3. You had way too much fun!

I’m so glad you never turned into some stuffed shirt, but always keep it … well … genuine.

  4. Ha Ha. What a different post in this New year. You have humor sense+photography+blogging. :)

  5. Haha Funny post Darren, I think procrastination is my speciality, I am always getting distracted when I am meant to be working on my blog. I think social media sites are the biggest distraction of all, many a time I get lost in Facebook and forget about what I am meant to be doing! Anyway back to work…

  22. Now that’s a great way to start a Monday morning. I’m curious about the first picture though Darren. That blogging position looks like your typing with your toes. If so, you are indeed talented. lol

  23. That’s too funny, and these photo with text are pretty cool.

  24. haha, this is so funny, but on the other side, your really transformed all the characteristic karate kid series principles to blogging.

I especially liked that last one, just yesterday I watched karate kid 3, it reminiscences a lot.

However, I think you should come up with something related to the bonsai trees. You know those little trees that mr. miyagi takes care of all the time…

  25. Very nice pics and a couple of those quotes are going to go on the wall to my blogging dojo now!

  26. Thanks for the laughs, which are totally not a waste of time! I love the first one. If only we got that much exercise blogging.

  30. ROFL – too funny! Love it!

  31. “Never Put Passion before Principle”.
I totally agree with you Darren. I sometimes get so passionate in writing my articles, but sometimes I forgot the principle rules in making a good content, including making unnecessary grammatical errors, not thinking from the visitors point of view, etc.

And this post is very innovative and provocative.

  32. Funny pictures man.

  33. That’s real talent! Looks like you are still procrastinating and enjoying the break…

I guess it is okay to take a break once a while…

  36. Darren-san,

    Great post!

    Original Version:
Daniel: Wouldn’t a fly swatter be easier?
Miyagi: Man who catch fly with chopstick accomplish anything.
    Daniel: Ever catch one?
    Miyagi: Not yet.

    Problogger Version:
Friend: Wouldn’t a “real job” be easier?
Beginning blogger: Man who make money with real job accomplish anything.
    Friend: Ever make any money?
    Beginning blogger: Not yet.

    :-)

  37. Darren, Great photos made me smile at 3pm.

    Thanks.

  39. I’ve had a lousy Monday back and I popped onto my eReader for a bit of a break and found this.

Thank you so much for the giggle. It was hugely needed!

  40. lol you must have been bored.

Wax On Wax Off My Son..lol

  43. Good stuff Darren. That gave me a good laugh. I was expecting a lengthy post, which I enjoy all of here, but that was pretty awesome.

  44. Ah you funny man, Darren san, you make joke with blog!

  45. That are ways to relax if you feel bored of blogging ,”

  46. You gotta admit, unleashing your inner-Karate Kid is a great way to get your groove on.

  47. Hahaha, It made me laugh. I like your style. Its enjoyable, funny and too much genuine. I like this innovative style. I had seen some similar photos on animatedmoviesdirectory.com

  48. Very funny. And a good reminder that blog readers respond well to the occasional humorous post as well. Even if your blog is about a serious subject, it’s good to show readers you can let your hair down occasionally as well – if you have any hair, that is ;-)

  49. Can’t you see he’s loco :)

  50. I love a good giggle!!
