AdSense Announce ‘Google Ad Planner’ – Showcase Your Site

Posted By Darren Rowse 6th of May 2009 Adsense 29

If you run AdSense on your blog and are looking to attract advertisers to target it specific with their ads then you’ll want to check out a new tool that AdSense have just announced on their blog – Google AdPlanner’s Publisher Center.

Ad Planner is a tool that advertisers use to find sites related to their ads and this new publisher center you can have some say over what they see when they’re looking for sites to advertise on.

First you need to claim your site (there are two methods either through Webmaster Tools or if you’re a DoubleClick Directory User) and then you can customize the description for your site, highlight the ad types that you run, share Google Analytics data (if you wish – this will replace the estimated traffic numbers that Ad Planner currently gives advertisers), choose categories for your site etc.

See more about Google’s Ad Planner Publisher Center in this video:

  1. Thanks for this post my friend, i have added my site..
but at present they are not accepting sub domains, that’s quite annoying..

  2. You’ve posted this twice, Darren :P

  3. My opinion is that google is getting way overcrowded with too many features. They should group them up

  4. whats wrong with your blog ? twice already, LOL

  5. This is a great reason to start thinking about the effectiveness of having adsense on your blog.

now you are publishing ads for your competitors on your blog, ads that could make your visitors, and readers to leave your blog fast

  6. It is useful info and I have updated my blog with the details which can reach the advertiser in a better way.
    Thank you Darran.

  7. I think it is auto republished.

  8. I think this is a great feature, my only concern is that when an advertiser gets an ad on my site the ENTIRE ad box gets taken by the one ad and a) the huge text doesn’t look as good and b) the single ad doesn’t receive the same clickthrough rate.

As with anything however the best way to find out if it works is to try it for a month or two… so that’s my plan. Thanks Darren.

  9. Thanks for this article , I’m grateful to you.

  10. Does it accept support blogspot blogs.

  11. Another way for Google to compete with private ads. Nice going Google.

  12. The more annoying, cluttered features these ad networks are getting… the more I’ve decided I am never putting ads on my website…

It’s all about the free value baby!! :)

  13. Gee whiz it took google a long time to figure out that many of the adsense ads end up on sites that are totally illrelevant and many ads which could be on relevant sites don’t show up. For example, a car blog or website..typical reader profile..male possibly more mature… yes car ads go well..but the reader also has other needs such as thinning hair, investment, health insurance, etc. If google adsense spider picks up a word like “makeup” then might start getting ads for makeup..wasting both publishers and advertiser time and money. Knowing the reader profile is more useful than site content, and this will result in higher click thru rate..hopefully.

  14. thx for info darren! i got so many new knowledge here! I’m not yet know how to use this ad planner .Is anybody here know how to use is? thanks

  15. Always a pleasure going through ur site. ;) Thanks for this quick nice info regarding adsense. cheers.

  16. I will try to use this and see if it is really worth use or not..thanks any ways

  17. This sounds like a good idea and maybe something I should try out on my ezFS site. Thanks.

  18. This is amazingly exactly what I was waiting for Google to do. I love Google. Thanks for letting me know about this Darren.

  19. This is a great tool. I’m wondering if it would go better on my BLOG page or on my SHOPPING page….

  20. Again a good knowledge share. If it has already been published by darren, I don’t know but will say thanks for sharing.

  21. These things improving publishers revenue or decreasing it???

that’s all fine and well, but it doesn’t currently support blogspot blogs which doesn’t make very much sense.

  23. Hope making money will be more easy with this one..

  24. After some of the things I have seen I would never advertise with Google. There are folks literally just asking people to click on there ads to donate the money for charity. And I’ve also clicked on more than a few ads and the page shows up blank. I wonder how much money Google gives and advertisers pay as a result of fraud.

  25. thank you, adsense is the main source of my income, your information is very useful, I will check

  26. I wonder how much money Google gives and advertisers pay as a result of fraud. very good.

  27. is this ad planner helps ad sense publishers which way, i need to track the ads performance how can i track it…

  28. You made some good points there. I did a search on the topic and found most people will agree with your blog.

  29. Very interesting post – Might be old news, but it was new to me, Cheers
