How to Blog – Submit Your Blog Tips Videos

Posted By Darren Rowse 5th of April 2010 Miscellaneous Blog Tips 0 Comments

Today I want to start a little group project to help us identify some cool blog tips. It involves readers recording their best blog tips on video and sharing them with our wider community.

  • Record a short video (under 2 minutes if you can) that contains your best blog tip.
  • Upload it to your Youtube account (you’re welcome to use other video sites – but it needs to be embeddable for me to feature it).
  • Tag your video ‘howtoblog’
  • Leave a link to the video in comments below
  • I’ll feature some (maybe all – depending how many there are) in the coming weeks here on ProBlogger

Try to record a blog tip that might be a bit different from others to make it a little unique. Also feel free in the video to share your blog’s URL so we can check it out.

My hope is that this project will do a number of things:

  1. It’ll get YOU thinking about something that has helped you in your blogging
  2. It will help others to learn something that will help them improve their blog
  3. It will help us to get to know each other a little more as we see and hear each others voices

I’m really looking forward to seeing what you come up with on this – please submit your videos in the next 7 days and I’ll pull something together to feature posts next week here on ProBlogger.

Great idea. Appreciate what you do.

This video talks about the advantages of offering readers and search engines targeted content, as well as a review a plugin that allows bloggers to offer customized widgets based on a post, page, category, tag, or author.

One of the best free plugins I know of.

  24. Nice idea. The problem is that what would people do who does not have good video capture devices? Do you accept videos created using windows media player alone (Mainly text) to be featured? I suppose the video should be personal

thanks for the opportunity to possibly contribute and give back a tiny token of gratitude for the massive education I’ve received through Problogger.

  29. Hi Darren,

Thanks for this wonderful opportunity to talk with all bloggers. I just prepared my first face to face video yesterday. I am really happy to share my blog tip on video.

I have created 125 screencasting video tutorials for Thesis theme, wordpress and blogging. Just now started to shoot face-to-face videos. But I am really enjoying to talk through videos.

I share a blog tip about using videos in blog to stand out from niche crowd. I share my all video traffic techniques in this video for problogger.net readers.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mt34NL6lc8Y

This video comes in 5:47 time. It is little bit more than your suggested time. But I can’t reduce it as I have to tell at least basic points. I uploaded captions also so that my Indian accent won’t stop anyone from listening to me.

I expect suggestions, questions from problogger.net readers through comments of this video.

  30. Whoa, that was certainly awesome info. Appreciate it for the good post. Will be back again next week to check out if there might be other updates.

You have a super idea going here!!JB

  37. I would like to thank Darren for the opportunity to share my blogging tip. I have a young site only a month old but I found that if you blog in series you tend to have more content and you keep readers on edge.
    Here is my video tip.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2FoKjrHAzqI

  38. I made a video and put it directly on my blog at: http://bluepop13.com/2010/04/09/my-best-blogging-tip/

  40. Darren,

great idea for a thread/topic. Aren’t the best ideas the simplest! I’ve only been blogging 4 months and have been getting a really encouraging increase in traffic – I’ve been cherrypicking the tips from your site that I think will work for me. My video is about branding: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FP7xo9w3dvw

  41. Hi Probloggers! I’ve put together a video tip about how I recently increased traffic and grew my subscriber base by putting up a Facebook Fanpage for my blog (EmergingEdTech.com). EmergingEdTech was started about a year ago (with a lot of help from the 31 DBBB project), and saw a nice growth spurt early this year with some help from the Fanpage I put up on Facebook. Check it out!

  44. Hi All,
I’m an email subscriber so this is my first comment. My husband’s new toy (digital video recorder) arrived a couple of days ago so today I have made my first video and opened a YouTube account! Be kind.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CfRGm4ERFCs

I think you should write about starfish! Actually, it’s what I learnt from a particular post about getting the audience involved.

Thanks for this opportunity, I’ve found it’s better to get in and do something than wait until you’re perfect and never get it done, so it was a well-timed push to start adding videos to my blog.

  45. Okay — mine is up!

And since I’m a songwriting type, I’m singing mine. :)

I believe this should take you to it…

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HNIMOg1M_b0

Thanks for such a fun opportunity to share!!

  46. I ust uploaded a higher res version of my blog tip video (about using a Facebook Fanpage to increase traffic, visibility, and brand value and recognition). I posted a lower res copy over the weekend, but have now learned how get Camtasia to make a better res video – always learning! :).

  47. I find myself returning to your blog mainly because you have plenty of impressive insights and also you are actually at this a while, which is very impressive and tells me you know your stuff.

  48. I currently possess a Lexmark, I’m OK with all the good quality but I am quite unhappy with how quickly it goes by way of ink. I need something that can print good quality paperwork and not drain me dry with all the charge of ink.

  49. This can be very good. I required pictures to include in my school venture and also the ?mages you’ve got posted are good. With thanks for them mate! I guess teacher will love my venture due to these design and of course the data I furnished.
