2 Products Worth Considering to Improve Your Blog Today

Posted By Darren Rowse 13th of August 2010 Pro Blogging News 0 Comments

Each week I see multiple products launched targeting bloggers wanting to improve their blogs. I’ve tested many of them in my time and the reality is that most don’t deliver what they promise and I don’t promote them. However from time to time – some hit the mark and present unique and helpful information that delivers real value.

This week there were two of these such products that hit the market. Both are quite different in their focus but both are from experts in their field and will help bloggers improve two important aspects of their blogs:

1. Jon Morrow’s Apprentice Program for Guest Bloggers

Jon is someone who has built a career for himself as a copywriter and blogger using Guest Posting. He’s been a guest poster here on ProBlogger numerous times and is a regular on blogs such as CopyBlogger.

Over the last week or so he’s release a series of great videos (here and here are two) on the topic of guest blogging and this week launched a comprehensive program that literally guarantees to get you a guest post on a high profile blog (if you don’t you’ll get your money back).

Jon’s course is a mix of video, private forum, Q&A calls and one on one interaction with Jon.

Guest blogging is a technique many bloggers have used to launch their blogs to great things and Jon’s the perfect person to talk you through how to do it. Sign up Today Here.

2. Gideon Shalwick’s Rapid Video Blogging

Gideon Shalwick has also taken his blogging to the next level by being prolific at one aspect of online discipline – VIDEO. He too has released a series of great videos this week that talk you through different aspects of using video to make money online (check them out here, here and here – they are free and whether you buy the course or not offer great insights) and today launched a great product – Rapid Video Blogging.

Gideon’s course is massive and comprehensive. It includes 125 instructional videos and transcripts/audio version as well as a heap of great tools and resources including videos with great video bloggers, live interactive sessions for Q&A.

Video is an incredibly dynamic medium and mastering it is something many bloggers need to learn – check out Rapid Video Blogging for more information on just how to do that.

Which one is for You?

Both of these resources come from experts in their fields and will present different value to different bloggers. Neither are super cheap entry level products (you’re getting a heap of content with both) and so you’ll want to consider your needs carefully and view some of the free videos that the guys have produced – but if you’ve been thinking about how to take your blogging up a notch lately and want to make an investment into your learning – do give them both consideration.

They both do come with money back satisfaction guarantees and both Jon and Gideon are people I trust to honour that promise.

I’m looking forward to hearing how you enjoy these courses and seeing how they help you improve your blogs.

  1. I’ve been considering some of these courses for a while. As a vintage fashion and lifestyle blogger it’s really hard to know if they’ll add enough value to be worth the money, and with so many out there I’m terrified of just throwing money away in general!

I’ll look into these 2 a bit more closely though I think,

  2. Thanks for the awesome products,
Maybe I’ll be able to get one of my posts up here on Problogger. If not, I’m going to hold it against you. ;)

And the video thing is something I’ll give a try.
    Thanks

    CJ

  3. I’ve already learned quite a bit from Gideon’s videos that he released. I’ve seen one of Jon’s which was also great. Both of these guys should have some great products.

  4. I’ve been hearing a lot about Gideon’s Rapid Video Blogging and have watched all his videos on it. I know he does great work from his previous projects such as Become A Blogger and his Magic site.

If I had the money I would buy this course, no questions asked.

Haven’t heard of the other one mention and I will check it out.

Has anyone else used either technique and had a great success in doing so?

  5. Great Post.

I know Both are awesome products.
I think second one is for me. I’ll buying the rapidvideoblogging course soon.

    Thanks for sharing.

  6. I like the idea of video blogging. Videos receive lots of hits these days and it makes sense to me this is a great way to build traffic to a blog.

    Peace.

  7. So far, Gideon’s free content has been worth its weight in GOLD, so I can imagine that his product is going to do nothing but deliver.

However, I do think his course is priced too high for what the market will bear at this time, especially since the demographic that he is targeting does not necessarily have a lot of money to spend on marketing.

We will see how things turn out. I wish him the best.

Jon’s product seems to be right on the money. His content has been very valuble as well and I’m sure that his course is worth every penney.

  8. i would say that its better to follow a course rather than searching for every aspect of the endeavor..but as the web is of dynamic nature it would help to see more modules of these courses being launched

  9. i would say that its better to follow a course rather than searching for every aspect of the endeavor..but as the web is of dynamic nature it would help to see more modules of these courses being launched

  10. I heard about Rapid Video Blogging on other blogs too, but I am hearing about the course by Jon Morrow.

Rapid Video Blogging is looking great, but as you said, the price means it wont be appealing to newcomers.

    Kindest,
    Nabeel

  11. Gideons free content is great, amazing in fact. Only wonder how much better his paid content is, probably a whole different field of amazements. He provides some great information and is a nice guy too!

  12. I watched a few of Jon Morrow’s free videos. They are very useful. I feel that he would definitely put in all his efforts to bring us the series of videos.

I’m going to watch Gideon’s free videos.

  13. In my opinion, I think I would go with Jon Morrow’s, but that may be just because it seems more dynamic. But if i had to, i would purchase that one.

  14. Hi Darren,
Thank you for these two tips. I just took a quick look at Gideon’s video and requested his e-book. I read Joshua’s comment above about the pricing and indeed it is not a small amount for Gideon’s product but clearly in the world of professional business it is an amount of money that if it can do what it says it can do it will pay for its price in no time. 125 instructional videos is indeed a massive amount of information – it is like going to video university!

I have not done video yet but this could be the tool I am looking for. I will read the e book and go from there.

    Cheers,
    David

  15. The beauty is that in both cases they are products born of passion and their creators are playing to their strengths.

It’s the ultimate synergy of passion + profit + unique value, and it’s another reminder that experience sells.

Like a kid in a candy store, you can scoop up their super skills.

  16. I am leaning towards Jon Morrow’s package as that seems more relevant for my site.

Vlogging is something I am keen on especially since am a travel focussed site but problem I am having is bandwidth and finding video sharing sites that can upload my videos which are too long plus not many PC based video editing sites there…am sure will get there soon!

  17. Hi Darren,

Both products are great in different ways.
I am very interested in Jon Morrow’s guest blogging concept.
I have been following here and on Copyblogger for some time.
Guest posting is my next step.
Nerves are getting the better of me at the moment.
It can be quite difficult to approach people about writing for their blog.
Any tips on starting as a guest blogger.

    Pete

  18. Gideon’s rapid video blogging course looks great and the free videos and content he gave away were top notch.

Its just, as Josh above mentions above, the fact that the course is $1000 – thats a lot of money for beginners to find, especially in a recession.

I don’t doubt that those who have that kind of loose change lying around won’t get their money’s worth though as his production values are extremely high.

  19. I like the idea of video blogging. Videos receive lots of hits. Both of these guys should have some great products.

  20. I’ve had a look at these products and they both seem to be high quality, with lots of good, practical information. They’ve also given away lots of good content in their free videos.

There have been a lot of product launches recently from some of the bigger names, but these two courses seem to be on the same level. I know enough about both people to know that they practice what they preach.

  21. What I loved about the way Jon launched his Guest Bloggers Apprentice programme was the awesome content in the free videos. I was sold on the very first video because there is so much invaluable stuff in there. If that’s what’s in the freebies, can you imagine what the paid stuff will be like?

Having signed up for the programme at 4am this morning, I can only echo Darren’s recommendation. It doesn’t start officially until Wednesday but there is already some wonderful super shiny stuff in there to get started on.

But with all these wonderful opportunities, it’s about making it work for you. If you’re not going to use the stuff, save your dollars. It’s wonderful but it’s not a magic money tree.

  22. Hey everyone

Thank you for all the amazing feedback – and thanks to Darren for hosting it all!

Just letting you know that I’ve just introduced a payment plan to make it easier for people to join.

Check out the offer page via Darren’s link to find out more about it.

Doors are only open until Wed Aug 18, after which you wont be able to get access any longer. So, if you don’t want to miss out on what I have to teach you about Rapid Video Blogging, make sure you join before the deadline :)

Thanks again for your support Darren!

    Much appreciated!

    Gideon Shalwick

  23. nice
however i think the products are not for beginners

  24. I already tried the rapid video blogging one and I have to agree it is a great product and worth the money!

  25. Darren I think you promote maximum of them … and now you are saying that you do not promote.

    Interesting.

  26. Those 2 products are interesting, hope to try them soon..

  27. Rapid Video Blogging is looking great, but as you said, the price means it wont be appealing to newcomers. I’m going to check out Gideon’s free videos

  28. I came across a video blog recently and I really liked it. I find it more interesting. I guess we can say that its the new trend.

  29. I would certainly love to go with the first one. :P

  30. Please don’t get me wrong I love Jon and Gideon, in fact I have benefitted a great deal from their work on how to become great at blogging. In fact Gideon’s charisma is just amazing, and he is the type of person I would love to have as a friend. However, I am not sure paying for the Apprentice Program for Guest Bloggers or the Rapid Video Blogging program will necessary help me achieve the success that these guys have achieved.

Therefore, I have to experiment myself, make mistakes and be patient. These guys did so why can’t I? Yes I want thousands and thousands of subcribers to my blogs, but there are no shortcuts to success neither can you buy your way to it. You have to work hard and stay persistent and stay focused.

Like most training courses of this nature it is most likely that less than 10% of the bloggers will actually do what they learnt from the course, while less than 5% will succeed as a result of attending the course.

  31. I have heard of both of these before, but now that I have seen it here as well, I surely will be looking in to it. Sound interesting.

  32. I’ve tried Gideon’s Rapid Video Blogging and it’s working for me. Kudos to him! The first one I haven’t tried yet, but it seems interesting.

  33. Good post. I think maybe I would get something a little less expensive? No doubt about the quality of the content, is just that there is a lot of information in You Tube and other places… What differentiates these products from those free?

  34. Hey there – I necessary assert, impressed with your site. I had no trouble navigating through all the tabs also tips ended up being noticeably very easy to access. I notice what I expected without delay in a sense. Moderately nice. Would likely appreciate it when you add community forums or something like that, it may be a most suitable way for your users to work together. Significant job..

  35. I quite know Gideon Shalwick and I have been reading a lot also from his blog. He has a different approach with blogging and I really admire his blog. I hope I can watch all his videos too. :D

  36. I’ve had a look at these products and they both seem to be high quality, with lots of good, practical information. They’ve also given away lots of good content in their free videos.

There have been a lot of product launches recently from some of the bigger names, but these two courses seem to be on the same level.
I know few more great free tools that designed to help beginners start building a website from the graund up to income producing machine such as http://www.incomegate.com/beginners/step-by-step/

  37. These 2 products are interesting, hope to try them soon in my new coming projects. Thanks for sharing…

  38. I have heard a lot of good things about both of these courses, but I think they are for the intermediate to advanced blogger. If you are a new blogger reading this post I would suggest heading over to the Warriorforum and purchasing an inexpensive blogging course from a respectable member.

I have learned a lot from that forum and many of the products are great and dirt cheap!
